Ella is an experienced writer, director and producer with 20 years experience in documentary, factual and current affairs. She wrote and directed her first documentary De Witt Island 7001: Back to the Big Witch for SBS’s Australia by Numbers series in 2003. It told the story of a young woman who went to live on a remote Tasmanian island in 1971 and the media storm that followed her. Ella went on to work as a producer for SBS’s Insight program, ABC Radio 702 Sydney and Independent Production house CJZ. Her credits include Go Back to Where you Came From series 3, Joe Hildebrand’s Shitsville Express which tested young political aspirants for the ABC and crime show Wanted for Channel Ten. Most recently she wrote, directed and produced a 19-minute single episode version of Flavour Swap for SBS on Demand.
In early 2019, I wrote, directed and produced a 19 minute food documentary called "Flavour Swap" that brought together professional chefs with passionate cooks from migrant and refugee backgrounds. You can find it on SBS on Demand.
