I am a people person and I believe my set of skills would make me a valuable assistant or team member. I take instruction well and I'm a quick learner. My time at University has made me a resourceful and time efficient person and I believe these qualities are essential in the Film and Television industry. I have already put these into practice on two productions and I cannot wait for my next opportunity.
I worked on The Nightingale which was a period piece set in 1825 Van Diemens Land. I was hired as an unpaid intern in the Art Department. My role was to conduct historical research during the pre-production period. This included researching relevant hut designs, dog breeds, British army regiments etc to assist the Art Department with recreating Tasmania in the mid 1800's.
Once filming commenced I was offered paid work and my role changed to Art Department Assistant. This meant I spent most of my time split between Swing Gang and prop making (such as ageing, sewing and painting). I also spent on some time on set working with stand-by props.
I did work experience in the art department on Rosehaven. Once again this involved prop handling and maintenance under the guidence of the set dressers.
